BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England tallied all four goals during the 3rd period to skate away with a 7-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey victory over Suffolk University on Friday night (Dec. 1) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Winners of three straight, the Nor'easters (5-3-1, 3-3-1 CCC) led from the start, with two scores in the opening 7:47. It was 2-1 after the 1st, and UNE never relinquished the advantage in the 2nd, when the teams each posted one goal.
Andrew Slotnick accounted for two of the first four markers leading the home side, and notched an assist when Neil Maietta made it 5-2 in the final period. Ryan Bloom matched Slotnick's three points with a goal and two helpers, and Jeff Eppright registered a goal and one assist.
Tyler Seltenreich and Christian Rossetti rounded out UNE's scoring line; assisting support on five different goals came from Ryan Burr and Brady Fleurent (3 and 2, respectively). Ben Churchfield totaled 34 saves to backstop the win and improve to 4-1-1 on the year.
For the Rams (5-5, 2-5 CCC), Connor Henry and Matt Bucher both had a goal and an assist. Michael Levine made 40 stops in just under 52 minutes, prior to being relieved by Will Ribas, who turned away six shots.
The squads will head down to Charlestown, Mass. (O'Neil Rink) for a 7:30 p.m. face-off on Saturday.
