BUFFALO, N.Y. – Brady Fleurent tallied three points on two goals and an assist to help lead the #13 University of New England men's ice hockey team to a 6-1 victory over Buffalo State on Friday night at the Buffalo Ice Arena.
Ryan Bloom and Derek Mecrones scored score two quick goals just 34 seconds apart in the first period to begin the night for the Nor'easters. Alden Weller added a shorthanded goal, the first of his career, late to put UNE in front 3-0 after a period.
Fleurent extended the lead with the first of his two goals just over a minute into the second period. The Bengals trimmed the deficit to 4-1 on a power-play score by Vadim Vasjonkin.
Liam Neuman found Brett Mecrones for a goal to start the third. Neuman dished out a career-best three assists in the victory. Fleurent lit the lamp for a short-handed score second later, his team-leading 10th of the season.
Tate Sproxton improved to 3-0 on the season as he turned away 29 shots on the night. Trevor Micucci (11) and Tyler Myers (18) combined for 29 saves for the Bengals.
The Nor'easters continue their road trip tomorrow at Morrisville State a 5 p.m.
