Even game all around as Yellowjackets, Bulldogs skate to a draw
Yellowjackets 1, Adrian 1
Both teams struggled to generate any offense during the first two periods as the shots on goal were only 10-8 in favor of Superior. A tripping penalty by Adrian College's Lauren Turner at 4:16 of the third period gave the Yellowjackets a power play when Chelsey Wierschem (Willmar, Minn.) fed the puck to Ashley Martin (Superior, Wis.) at the top of the left circle. She fired a shot that beat Adrian's Emily Michelin to make the score 1-0. Sheryl Kaskiw (Shoal Lake, Manitoba) would also have an assist on the play. Adrian would come right back at 13:01 when Olivia Rork took a shot from the top of the circle that was stopped, but Danielle Smith would put the rebound home to even things up. Overtime would continue to produce the same story as the first two periods, as the Yellowjackets could only muster three shots while Adrian had none.
Superior's Shanley Peters (Gnadenthal, Manitoba) finished the contest with 14 saves on 15 shots while Michelin rounded out the game with 17 saves on 18 shots. The Yellowjackets will look to cap off and a seven-game homestand with win on Saturday, November 12. The puck will drop in the second game of their weekend series with Adrian at 2:00 p.m.
