The visiting Falcons dominated the first two periods, scoring two goals in the first and three in the second to take a commanding 5-0 into the third period.
UWSP got on the board two minutes into the third on a power play goal by Hannah Smith (Spokane, WA/East Valley). The goal was Smith's first of her collegiate career, coming off assists from Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) and Allie Tanzer (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chippewa Falls).
UWRF answered three minutes later on a goal by Alyssa Black, unassisted.
Ava Plamondon (Blackhawk, CO/Nederland) scored the final goal for UWSP at the 7:26 mark of the third off an assist by Michelle Lunneborg (Richfield, MN/Richfield).
UWRF capped off their offensive display two and a half minutes later, as the Falcons scored again at 10:09 on another unassisted goal, this time by Katie Batters.
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison WI/East) recorded 14 saves for the UWSP in the first two periods, while Johanna Sommers (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) tallied 4 in the final period.
UWSP (3-2-1) will be back in action Friday when they travel to De Pere to take on St. Norbert at 7 p.m.
