SALEM, Mass. -- Three different players scored for the University of New England, which outshot Salem State University 42-9 en route to a 3-0 shutout in non-conference women's ice hockey action Tuesday evening at Rockett Arena.

UNE (2-4-1) would get the only offense it would need 13 minutes into the opening period when Emily Corrales scored in traffic for her first goal of the season. Abby Kinens and Mary Wirth assisted on the play.

After a scoreless middle frame, the Nor'easters doubled their lead just 1:16 into the third on a power-play goal by Shannon Smith, which was set-up by Taylor Fowler. Marissa Clifford-Biederman added a late goal to complete the scoring, assisted by Haley Gorman and Wirth.

Sydney Helmbrecht needed just nine saves to record her first shutout of the season and third career.

Jenn Toussaint had a busy evening in goal for the Vikings (3-5-0), totaling 39 stops.

The same two teams are back in action against one another Sunday when the Nor'easters host Salem State at the Harold Alfond Forum at 2 p.m.
