Hamline drops First MIAC Game

More news about: Hamline

The HU women's hockey team fell into a hole and couldn't climb out Saturday, losing their first MIAC game of the season to St. Thomas, 6-2, at Oscar Johnson Arena.

Zoey Lobejko and Dani Perry had the goals for the Pipers, who are now 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

The Pipers defeated the Tommies, 3-2, Friday -- their first win over an UST team in nine years. The Tommies grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first period and pushed it to 4-0 after two. It was 5-0 when Lobejko scored her first collegiate goal on a feed from Sadie Baker at 8:12. Later, Perry added her first marker. UST outshot Hamline, 33-14, for the game. Darby Dodds, whose two third period goals on Friday lifted the Pipers to the win, had five shots and Taylor Ramthun contributed four.

This was the last scheduled MIAC game for six weeks. (Hamline has a game to make up at St. Benedict that has not been re-scheduled.)

But HU is not done playing just yet. Hamline hosts Wis-Eau Claire on Wednesday, December 7 at Oscar Johnson Arena in a 7:00 p.m. game. The teams played a thriller in Eau Claire on November 4 with Jessica Goldberg scoring in overtime to give Hamline a 4-3 win.
