Raiders down Concordia (Wis.) to retain Lake Michigan Cup

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The MSOE Raiders knocked off Concordia-Wisconsin 3-1 Friday night at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. The victory secures the Lake Michigan Cup for MSOE once again. The winner of the season series takes the traveling trophy.

The scoring started early in the first period when freshman forward Casey Moneer was set up by junior defenseman Michael Thompson at the 1:26 mark. The Raiders made it 2-0 in the second when sophomore forward Kevin LoGiudice scored on a two-man advantage. Senior forward Bradley Tierney and freshman forward Derek Tykla picked up the assists on that tally.

Late in the third, Brandon Bayer pulled the Falcons within one at the 17:38 mark. MSOE finished the scoring with a goal by senior forward Kyle Smith from junior forward Steven Shaffroth.

Freshman goalie Nick Kohn made 27 saves in the victory. MSOE (12-7-1, 9-5-1 MCHA) faces Concordia-Wisconsin in Mequon, Wis. Saturday at 7 p.m.
