Enciso hat trick powers MSOE past Concordia-Wis.

MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Conner Enciso scored three goals for his first collegiate hat trick and led the MSOE hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Concordia Wisconsin Friday night at the Kern Center.

Enciso scored a goal in each period to lead the the Raiders (2-1, 2-1 NCHA) past the Falcons (1-2, 1-2 NCHA) in the first game of the weekend series.

Enciso opened the scoring in the waning seconds of the opening period, lighting the lamp with just seven seconds remaining. Junior Gage Christianson and junior Cole Larson notched assists on the goal, putting MSOE ahead 1-0.

After a back-and-forth opening period with just 13 combined shots, the game got more offensive in the second frame. The Raiders held a 20-13 shooting lead in the second period with three combined goals scored.

Sophomore Zach Simpson doubled the Red & White advantage, netting a short-handed goal at 8:28 of the second period. It was the team's second short-handed goal in just three games this season and came with an assist from freshman Matthew Romund.

At 16:52, Enciso scored his second-period goal, once again off an assist from Christianson, as well as sophomore Chris Hinrichs.

Concordia Wisconsin pulled back a goal in the dying seconds of the second period, as Tanner Bull found the back of the net with just seven seconds to go.

Enciso quickly re-established the three-goal cushion just 22 seconds into the final period and complete the hat trick. Hinrichs and junior Cody Ganchar assisted on the score. That goal capped the scoring, as the Raiders saw out the remainder of the final period for the victory.

MSOE finished with a 37-28 shot advantage in the game, as senior Nick Kohn had another strong game in goal with 27 saves. His counterpart, Andy Munroe was forced into 33 saves for CUW.

The series shifts to the Ozaukee Ice Center Saturday. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
