HARRISVILLE, R.I. -- The University of New England and Nichols College skated to a 2-2 overtime draw in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey action Friday night (Nov. 10) at Levy Rink.

Both teams got on the board within 20 seconds of each other late in the 1st period, and then were separated by 1:40 early in the 2nd, before playing the final 38 minutes without any scoring.

The Bison (3-1-1, 2-0-1 CCC) struck first at the 19:04 mark on a goal by Filip Virgili, only to see Ryan Bloom pull the Nor'easters (1-1-1, 1-1-1 CCC) even in the moments that followed.

Jeff Eppright made it 2-1 in favor of UNE with 5:30 gone in the middle frame, but that cushion was short-lived as Scott Cuthrell tied things up for the hosts shortly after.

Ben Churchfield posted 22 stops in his first collegiate goaltending start for the visitors. Adding assists on the UNE goals were Brady FleurentAndrew Slotnick, and Tyler Seltenreich.

For Nichols, Colin Brennan recorded 26 saves. Virgili, Cuthrell, and Ian Spencer all factored in both scores for the Bison.

The teams will have less than 22 hours to regroup and prepare for a 7 p.m. puck-drop in Biddeford on Saturday.
