KING'S MEN'S HOCKEY COMES UP SHORT TO MANHATTANVILLE
PITTSTON -- Core Anderson scored a pair of goals and the Manhattanville College men's ice hockey team scored four straight after being down 1-0 to post a 4-1 victory over host King's College Saturday night at Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston.
With the win, Manhattanville improved to 9-7-5 overall and 6-4-2 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 0-21 and -12 in the UCGC in its inaugural season of hockey. King's showed a marked improvement after falling to Manhattanville 11-2 back on November 18.
King's took a 1-0 lead when Nicholas Palumbo found the back of the net off of assists from Luke Damiano and Jamie Lukas 5:34 into the game.
Manhattanville tied the score on a goal by Corey Anderson with 3:38 left in the first period before Matt Lippa gave the Valiants a 2-1 lead with 2:47 on the clock.
Corey Anderson made it a 3-1 by scoring his second goal of the contest with 11:19 remaining in the second period, a lead the Valiants would take into the final frame.
In the third period, the Valiants pushed across the final score of the game on a goal by Ken McLean with 11:14 left in the contest.
Manhattanville outshot King's 50-14 while owning a 47-21 advantage in faceoffs. King's goalie Jake Tugnutt tied his season high of 46 saves in the game.
King's returns to Revolution Ice Friday with a 7:00 PM game against UCHC and MAC rival Lebanon Valley College.
