PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – A goal in each period led the No. 7 University of New England men's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over No. 6 Salve Regina in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) clash in Portsmouth, R.I. on Friday night.
Two-time NCAA points leader, Brady Fleurent, picked where he left of a season ago, scoring at the 16:29 mark of the first period off a Seahawks' turnover to give the Nor'easters an early lead. Ryan Bloom put home a rebound on a power-play in the second to extend the UNE advantage.
Tyler Seltenreich buried a loose puck in front in the third period for the final goal.
Ben Churchfield made 20 saves on the night to preserve the shutout. Blake Wojtala stopped 32 shots for Salve Regina.
UNE will host the Seahawks at Harold Alfond Forum tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
