MENOMONIE, Wis. – The St. Olaf College men's hockey team got goals from first-year Mitch Dolter and senior Chris Koziel in a 3-2 loss at UW-Stout in a non-conference contest on Friday night at Fanetti Community Center.

Dolter gave St. Olaf (2-2-1) a lead inside the first four minutes of the game, but UW-Stout (3-2-0) scored the game's next three goals to take a 3-1 lead early in the third period. Koziel brought the Oles within a goal at 8:52 of the third, but St. Olaf could not manage a tying goal.

At 3:47 of the opening period, Dolter netted his second goal of the season on St. Olaf's first shot of the game to give the Oles a quick 1-0 lead. Junior Tuukka Totro earned his team-high fourth assist of the young season on Dolter's shot from the slot.

The Blue Devils outshot the Oles, 15-4, in the opening period but found themselves down by a goal after the opening 20 minutes. Just 34 seconds into the second, however, UW-Stout tied it up at 1-1 on a goal by Arturas Laukaitis and, 12:30 later, went ahead on a Conner Valesano goal at 13:04.

Leading 2-1 after two, UW-Stout extended its lead to 3-1 on a power-play goal by Logan Nelson off an assist from Valesano at 1:59 of the third. Koziel made it a one-goal game at 8:52 of the third, scoring off an assist from junior Will Dittrich.

Junior Noah Parker made 38 saves for the Oles, including nine after Koziel's goal to keep the deficit at one, but UW-Stout held on for the win. Parker has 124 saves over his last three games after back-to-back 40-plus save efforts last weekend against Gustavus. Tommi Ahlgren made 18 stops for the Blue Devils, who outshot the Oles by a 41-20 margin in the game.

St. Olaf completes its weekend against another Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponent on Saturday, Nov. 10 when the Oles take on UW-Superior at 7 p.m. on the road.
