WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Kelly Ferreira collected a goal and an assist in Nichols College's 2-1 win over Becker College in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action Friday night at Worcester Ice Arena.
Freshman Mel McAleer also scored for the Bison, who outshot the Hawks 49-18. Junior assistant captains MacKenzie Lyons and Mikayla Castro notched assists for NC, which has surpassed last season's win total through the first three games of the 2017-18 campaign.
McAleer's power-play goal at 12:15 of the first staked the Bison to a 1-0 lead. Junior goalie Cassandra Goyette made the goal stand up throughout the second and third periods until Ferreira put one into an empty net with 54 seconds remaining in the third. Junior Bailey Coons spoiled Goyette's shutout bid with her first of the season at 19:44.
Goyette finished the night with 17 saves.

Tonight's contest marked the third all-time meeting between Nichols College and Becker College. With the win, the series now stands at 1-1-1.
