Cardinals fly past Bison, 3-1

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Freshman Mel McAleer scored her seventh goal of the season on Tuesday for the Nichols College women's ice hockey team, which dropped a 3-1 decision to Wesleyan (CT) University Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Levy Rink.
 
Juniors Kelly Ferreira and Marg Reid collected assists on the goal while classmate Cassandra Goyette made 32 saves between the pipes for the Bison, who were outshot 35-30.
 
Senior Cici Frattasio, junior Kendall Carr, and freshman Sarah Takahashi each scored for the Cardinals, who went 1-for-4 with the extra attacker. Sophomore Allegra Grant recorded 29 saves – including 11 in the third period – to earn the win.
 
All-Time Series
This afternoon's contest marked the 10th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Wesleyan (CT) University. The Cardinals now lead the series, 8-1-1.
