UNE skates past Hawks in CHC debut, 4-0

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's ice hockey team netted three 1st-period goals and picked up a 4-0 victory over Becker College in its Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) opener on Friday night at the Harold Alfond Forum.
 
Kenady Nevicosi started the scoring with her second goal of the season as Tatum Gietl hit her with a pass from the right circle at the 15:30 mark of the first period [Watch]. Later in the first, Julianne Sheehan won a face-off and immediately found Jessie Scott for a power-play goal [Watch]Bella Crugnale extended the lead to 3-0 on a wraparound with just over a minute left in the period [Watch].
 
Yu scored her first of the season on a power-play early in the third. Tatum Gietl set her up with a cross-ice pass and Yu connected from the left circle [Watch].
 
UNE (2-0, 1-0 CHC) out-shot the Hawks (0-3, 0-1 CHC) by a 34-15 margin on the night. Julia Benjamin made 15 saves for the Nor'easters. Madison Rigsby turned away 30 shots for the visitors.
