Sophomore Mel McAleer picked up two goals and two assists in Nichols College's 5-2 win over Suffolk University Friday night in non-conference women's ice hockey action at Levy Rink.
Senior Kelly Ferreira potted two goals and collected an assist for the Bison (1-0-0), who also received a shorthanded tally from sophomore McKenna Gernander. Senior Cassandra Goyette turned aside 32 shots – including 13 in the first period, where the Rams (0-1-0) outshot the Bison 14-8.
Freshman Haley Poloskey netted the first two goals of her career for Suffolk, which was playing the first varsity game in program history. Sophomore Kristen Caporusso stopped 27 saves between the pipes while freshmen Shana Cote and Jesse Kennedy each recorded an assist.

-The Bison won their season-opener for the second consecutive season.
-Nichols scored two even strength goals, two power play goals, and one shorthanded goal.
-The Rams dominated the face-off dot, winning 52 of the 79 draws (.658).
