BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's ice hockey team racked up five first-period goals on the way to equaling the program single-game scoring record in an 8-1 victory over Saint Michael's College at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday afternoon.

Unbeaten in their last six, the Nor'easters (9-1-1) have already matched their win total from last season.

Five different players scored as UNE put the game out-of-reach in the opening frame. After UNE's Julianne Sheehanand Emily Lanci of the Purple Knights (3-7-0) exchanged short-handed goals, Kyra Yu and Marykate Drinkwater put in power-play markers to grab the lead. Then Bella Crugnale and Shannon Upton extended the spread to 5-1.

Sheehan notched her second of the game at the 8:01 mark of the second period, and Kenady Nevicosi bumped it to 7-1 just 13 seconds later with her 10th goal of the year. Tatum Gietl added a power-play score in the third.

Sheehan had a team-best three points, while Shannon Nadeau and Brianna Jewett each had two assists on the day to join Yu and Nevicosi at a couple points.
Annie Rademacher made 21 saves over 52 minutes in her first appearance of the year for UNE. Vika Simons made five saves at the start before Alyssa Cimino totaled 23 stops over the final two periods.
