Sheehan hat trick powers UNE over Panthers, 5-2

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Julianne Sheehan recorded her first career hat trick to lead the University of New England women's ice hockey team past Plymouth State University by a 5-2 spread on Saturday afternoon at Hanaway Rink.

Sheehan scored twice in the opening period, first off a pass from Kenady Nevicosi at the 8:01 mark. Tatum Gietl found her on a power-play late to give UNE a 2-0 advantage. The senior has now tallied multiple goals in three of the last five games and leads the Nor'easters (12-2-1) with 12 on the year.
 
Plymouth State (2-7-3) cut into the deficit as Kelsey Roy scored in the open minutes of the second.
 
Sheehan opened the third by scoring off another feed from Gietl, before Alex Mitchell and Gietl added goals to push the lead to 5-1. Brooke Maggy put in the final score for the Panthers.

Nevicosi finished with two assists for UNE, which had a 47-22 advantage in shots. Julia Benjamin made 22 saves for the visitors, while Gabbie Igo turned away 42 shots for Plymouth State.
