Scott leads UNE to victory at Southern Maine, 3-1

GORHAM, Maine – The University of New England women's ice hockey team picked up a 3-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at USM Ice Arena.
 
Jessie Scott put the Nor'easters (13-4-1) ahead twice during the match, including the only score of the first period. Carly Perreault forced a turnover in the offensive zone and found Scott in front.
 
After Amanda Piknick knotted the game at 1-1 with a goal early in the second period for the Huskies (7-8-4), Scott struck at the 4:12 mark of the third to put UNE on top for good. Meghan Hamilton added her first career tally at the 9:48 mark on a power-play to extend the margin.

Julia Benjamin made 29 saves on the day for the Nor'easters, who received assists from Kyra Yu and Julianne Sheehan.

For Southern Maine, Whitney Padgett totaled 24 stops between the pipes.
 
UNE returns home on Friday for a Colonial Hockey Conference matchup with SUNY Canton at 4 p.m. The Nor'easters will be holding the Third Annual Teddy Bear Toss at the game.
