More news about: St. Thomas

Playing in goal in her 100th college game, St. Thomas senior Kenzie Torpy stopped all 23 shots for her first career postseason shutout and led the top-seed Tommies to a 4-0 win over fourth-seed Gustavus in the semifinal round of the MIAC playoffs in Mendota Heights.

The No. 1-ranked Tommies (23-1-2) have won 10 consecutive MIAC playoff games over the last six seasons and improved to 18-0-2 on home ice since December 2017. They will play Saturday March 3 at home in the playoff championship against Hamline. The host and No. 4-ranked Pipers scored a 6-1 win over Augsburg.

Alyssa Wallace and Maddy Fiedler each contributed a goal and an assist for St. Thomas. The Purple scored three times in a 6:33 span early in the third period -- with Allison Parnell, Fiedler and Kate Winiecki scoring even-strenth goals -- to extend a 1-0 lead to 4-0.

Torpy and her teammates have 12 shutouts on the season and 21 on her career.

Gustavus (16-6-5) had a 10-game unbeaten streak snapped (7-0-3).
